Hawks vs. Mavericks prediction and odds for NBA Summer League (Dallas stays hot?)
By Peter Dewey
The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks have each won three games in a row in the Las Vegas Summer League ahead of Sunday’s consolation matchup.
The Hawks have pulled AJ Griffin from the Summer League roster, but first-round pick Kobe Bufkin has been leading the charge for Atlanta.
The Mavs, who beat the Indiana Pacers by 21 points in their last game, received a big game from A.J. Lawson (24 points), and they’re still playing both of their first-round selections in Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Jaden Hardy sat out the win over Indiana, so the Mavs still have some firepower even without arguably their best player.
Here are the odds and my best bet for the consolation matchup on Sunday:
Hawks vs. Mavericks odds, spread and total
Spread
- Hawks +2.5 (-110)
- Mavericks -2.5 (-110)
Moneyline
- Hawks: +125
- Mavericks: -145

Hawks vs. Mavericks prediction and pick
Dallas is starting to build some solid young talent with Lively II and Prosper, and I think it should be able to cover in this game.
The Hawks barely beat the Philadelphia 76ers, who have struggled in Las Vegas, and all three of the team’s wins have come by six points or less.
Meanwhile, the Mavs beat that same Philly team by eight points before trouncing Indiana in its last game.
Atlanta has some solid talent, but Bufkin is the only first-round caliber player on the roster.
With the team having a penchant for playing close games, I’ll side with Dallas instead on Sunday.
Pick: Mavs -2.5 (-110)
