The Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics are separated by just 1.5 games in the Eastern Conference standings, and they face-off for the second time this season on Wednesday night.

Boston got the better of Charlotte in overtime in their first meeting, but the Hornets have been much improved defensively since then, ranking seventh in the NBA in defensive rating over their last 10 games.

This could be a potential play-in tournament matchup later this season, so who has the edge on Wednesday night?

Here are the latest odds via WynnBET:

Hornets vs. Celtics Prediction and Pick

I’ve been impressed with the Hornets’ play as of late, as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games and are really starting to put things together on the defensive end of the floor.

Charlotte held the slow-paced New York Knicks to just 87 points on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and they’ll face a Celtics team that is 29th in the NBA in pace over its last 10 games on Wednesday.

We all know the Hornets love to play fast (No. 2 in the league in pace), and I think that benefits them in this spot.

The Celtics rely on a lot of isolation basketball from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, so if their shots aren’t falling the Hornets could run away with this game.

Boston is just 10-12-1 against the spread at home this season, while Charlotte is 13-13 ATS on the road.

Neither mark is impressive, but I’m going to forget the points and take the Hornets to pull off the upset.
