Hornets vs. Grizzlies Prediction and Odds: Charlotte's Losing Streak Ends in Memphis

The Charlotte Hornets (5-7) come off an OT loss to the Lakers and are mired in a five-game losing streak after a strong start to the season.

All five of the Hornets’ starters managed to score in double digits, but it wasn’t quite enough to put away the Lake Show. After losing six of their last seven games, it will be interesting to see if, or when, the Hornets will perk up.

Meanwhile, the 6-4 Memphis Grizzlies, are coming off a 125-118 win over the Timberwolves and have now won three of their last four games. Memphis have been winning with their stifling defense that ranks top-5 in efficiency. The Grizzlies also have some bragging rights as the only team to beat the Golden State Warriors thus far.

One slight knock against the Grizz is their injury report heading into Tuesday night. Dillon Brooks, who has sat all season, is questionable, and Ziaire Williams. Killian Tillie and Yves Pons have already been ruled out.

The Hornets have played better than their losing streak suggests over the last week or so. The offense is clicking thanks to the contributions of rookie LaMelo Ball; averaging 22.6 PPG with 6.0 boards and 6.6 dimes. Say what you will about LaVar Ball, but the dude knows how to breed basketball players. Ball has helped Charlotte rank in the top-10 of rebounding, assist to turnovers, and offensive rating over the last five games that he has started. 

On the flipside, Memphis has been winning more recently but have some issues on defense and an injury to De'Anthony Melton leaves them without their versatile combo guard. Melton has the highest net rating on the team and his presence will be missed. 

The Hornets have been putting together their puzzle pieces and I think Ball in the starting lineup was one of the last to be inserted. This is a good spot to take the underdog with Memphis’ missing pieces and Charlotte squad getting better every night.
