Houston Rockets Season Preview, Win Total Prediction and Playoff Odds
By Peter Dewey
The Houston Rockets will attempt to climb out of the NBA’s basement in the 2021-22 season, and a lot of that burden will fall on rookies Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun.
While Houston lacks star talent, especially if John Wall isn’t suiting up for the Rockets this season, it does have several intriguing young players.
Christian Wood, Kenyon Martin Jr., Kevin Porter Jr., Josh Christopher, Green, and Sengun could make for some fun nights, but there are also going to be a ton of growing pains for the Rockets.
WynnBET Sportsbook doesn’t have much confidence in the Rockets, and rightfully so, but Green is a legitimate rookie of the year candidate and should put up some major numbers if the Rockets are going to compete at all this season.
Houston Rockets Win Total Prediction | 27.5 (Over -105/Under -116)
It is going to take a lot of overachieving for the Rockets to go over this number this season.
The benefit for Stephen Silas’ crew is that the Rockets’ young players are going to get on-the-job training this season. Houston is going to have to play its young guys, and play them a lot, and that should help the roster moving forward.
If Green, Porter Jr. or another youngster pops, maybe the Rockets will find themselves around the 30-win threshold, but this roster just doesn’t have enough proven players at the moment to take the over on this total heading into the 2021-22 season.
Houston Rockets Playoff Odds
Houston isn’t going to make the playoffs this season, and the Rockets’ odds (-10000 to miss) reflect that.
This is a rebuild and has been since the Rockets traded James Harden last season, and there just isn’t any value on Houston’s playoff odds at the moment. They could come out and surprise some people early, but it’s hard to see the Rockets even making the play-in tournament, never mind the final playoff field.
