Houston vs. Tulsa Prediction, Odds and Spread for College Football Week 5
By Peter Dewey
The Houston Cougars will take their 3-1 record on the road in Week 5 of the college football season against an AAC opponent in the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
After losing its season opener to Texas Tech, Houston bounced back with a pair of blowout wins over Rice and Grambling before picking up an eight-point victory over Navy in Week 4.
Tulsa will be looking for its second win of the season after an 0-3 start. The Golden Hurricane knocked off Arkansas State in Week 4, but took two tough losses against Power Five teams in the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oklahoma State Cowboys earlier this season.
Here’s how the odds look for Friday’s matchup at WynnBET:

Houston vs. Tulsa Prediction and Pick
Tulsa has faced a tough strength of schedule with matchups against Ohio State and Oklahoma State, but the Golden Hurricane hasn’t been great in terms of covering the spread, especially as a home favorite.
While Houston has faced a much easier strength of schedule, it has handled business over the past three games and will face a Tulsa defense that is allowing 394.8 yards of total offense per game this season.
I actually like the Cougars a lot in this spot, as their easy schedule and solid defense has them currently with the third-best passing defense (116.0 yards per game) in the country. Tulsa is averaging 302.0 yards per game through the air and 187.8 yards per game on the ground, but the Houston defense may be up to the task in this one.
Quarterback Clayton Tune has thrown just one interception for the Cougars since the Week 1 loss to Texas Tech. I’m not sure I believe in a Tulsa team that lost to UC Davis at home and couldn’t cover the spread against Arkansas State.
Give me the Cougars to cover and win outright at +165 odds on Friday night.
