Illinois vs. Penn State Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 8
By Matt De Saro
The No. 7 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions will host the Illinois Fighting Illini at Beaver Stadium in State College, PA in Week 8. Penn State is looking to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the season against Iowa 23-20. Illinois might sugar the brunt of Penn State’s frustrations over that loss.
The Illini are 2-5 on the year, putting them sixth in the Big Ten West and out of contention for much of anything. They were shut out last weekend by Wisconsin in what I expect to be a similar outcome to this one.
PSU comes into this game as a heavy favorite but can it cover a 24-point spread against a desperate Illinois team? Let’s review the odds at WynnBET Sportsbook for this Week 8 game between Big Ten rivals.
Illinois vs. Penn State, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Illinois: +24.0 (-110)

Illinois vs. Penn State Prediction and Pick
I fully expect the Nittany Lions to dominate from whistle to whistle in this game. They are going to pissed off after losing to Iowa and the Illini will be their punching bag. Illinois will be pretty much helpless against a PSU defense averaging just 12 points per game given up when at home. They have played Auburn, Indiana, Ball State, and Villanova in those games. I can’t find a tool on the Illini offense that would allow them to break through in any meaningful way to make a difference in this game.
This game also comes at a perfect time for Penn State. They are coming off a loss and then a bye week. They are well-rested and hungry. This will be little more than a warm-up game for Penn State to prepare for a tough schedule down the stretch with games against Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan to navigate.
Don’t overthink this one, take Penn State to cover.
Prediction: Penn State -24.0 (-110)
