Iona vs. Manhattan Prediction and Odds (Gaels To Roll in Home Finale)

The Manhattan Jaspers will play host tonight to the Iona Gaels in a battle between two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals. The Gales are leading the pack with a 24-5 overall record and a 16-2 mark in conference play. Iona hit a rough patch last month and lost back-to-back games against Niagara and Siena, but rebounded well and haven’t lost a game since Feb. 12. Their previous loss before that run was on Jan. 8. Iona dominated Rider on defense in their last game and held them to just 30 percent shooting and caused a dozen turnovers.

I feel like this game is a bit of a gimme considering the odds and state of these two teams. While Iona continues to play hard and win games, Manhattan looks like a team ready to call it a season. In fact, they may already have. The Jaspers took a huge loss to the Saint Peter’s Peacocks, 73-51, in their last game out. On a side note, what is with all the weird team names in these smaller conferences? I’m sorry, but Peacocks and Jaspers don’t strike fear into the hearts of opponents like the Tigers or Lions. But I digress. 

Basically, Iona is on a whole different level of play than Manhattan right now and I think this could be another blowout loss for a team that doesn’t look like they want to be there.
