The No. 18 Texas Tech Red Raiders are out for revenge after getting beaten by No. 15 Iowa State a few weeks back. On their home court, the Red Raiders are currently eight-point favorites despite losing to the Cyclones 51-47 on Jan. 5.

Right off the bat, this feels like a charitable spread in favor of Texas Tech who were five-point underdogs last time around. That game was all about the defense and we could see more of the same tonight. For a game with a total under 130, the spread is already a bit wide, to begin with. Taking into account the game that preceded this one makes the odds even more confounding.

While there is little doubt which team has the potential to bet better, the Red Raiders are very inconsistent. After losing to the then No. 11 Cyclones, Texas Tech rebounded to beat No. 6 Kansas and No. Baylor in back-to-back games. It followed that up by losing to Kansas State on the road by 11.

Iowa State vs. Texas Tech Prediction and Pick

This should be another close game between two of the best defensive teams in the nation. Texas Tech ranks eighth in scoring defense at 58.6 points per game while the Cyclones are 12th at 59.3. Not much of a difference there.

It’s more of the same on the offensive side. While Texas Tech has the edge across the board, it’s a slim advantage for the most part.

This is the part of the story where you would expect me to side with the underdogs to cover again against the Red Raiders. And, you would be wrong.

See, the problem with the last game was that Texas Tech was playing without who of its best players in Kevin McCullar and Terrence Shannon Jr. Because of this, the Red Raiders only had seven available players with some playing all 40 minutes. It was as bad a spot as it gets for a team. Luckily, both are playing tonight and will be ready to help their team earn that revenge win over Iowa State.

Pick: Texas Tech -8 (-110)
