No. 3 Michigan will look to make it two straight wins against their bitter rival No. 2 Ohio State with a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game on the line, but will they be shorthanded?

Michigan star running back and Heisman Trophy contender Blake Corum suffered a knee injury in the first half against Illinois and didn't finish the team's close call against Illinois, leaving his status in doubt for Saturday's pivotal game against Ohio State.

Here's the latest on the Wolverines running back ahead of The Game.

Latest Blake Corum Injury Update

Saturday morning update part 2: Corum was not seen early in warmups, but appeared with a "bulky" brace on his knee, per ESPN. Fellow running back Donovan Edwards also has a wrap on his right thumb.

Both are expected to play.

Saturday morning update: Corum is expected to play for No. 3 Michigan against No. 2 Ohio State, but it's unclear how effective he will be, per Pete Thamel of ESPN. It's worth noting that fellow running back Donovan Edwards will play with a broken hand.

Corum left at the end of the first half with what looked like a serious knee injury. However, he started the second half with a carry for Michigan before not returning for the rest of the game.

The running back's impact can't be exaggerated, rushing for 1,457 yards on 245 carries with 18 touchdowns. He is the third choice to win the Heisman Trophy as he has No. 3 Michigan live to make the College Football Playoff for the second straight season.

There was plenty of concern after Corum didn't finish the game, but was spotted last Sunday in good spirits.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was tight lipped in regards to Corum's status for Saturday as well as fellow standout running back Donovan Edwards, who has missed the last two games with an injury.

If Corum is out, a lot of pressure will fall on quarterback J.J. McCarthy and the Michigan passing game, which hasn't been tested all that much this season. This is the biggest injury to monitor ahead of this top three matchup.
