Is Christian Barmore Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Update for Bears vs. Patriots in NFL Week 7)
By Peter Dewey
The New England Patriots are looking to get back over .500 in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, but they'll likely have to do it without defensive tackle Christian Barmore, who suffered a knee injury in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.
Barmore is one of New England's best defensive players, posting a sack and 15 tackles through the team's first six games.
"Patriots DL Christian Barmore, who left Sunday's win in Cleveland due to a knee injury, is officially questionable," Patriots.com's Evan Lazar wrote. "This week, Barmore was seen with a wrap on his knee and a noticeable limp in the locker room. Although anything is possible, we'd say Barmore's hopes of playing on Monday night are low."
Despite Barmore's injury, the Patriots are still 8.5-point favorites in this game, mainly because they are expected to have quarterback Mac Jones back in the lineup.
If there is anything the Bears do well on offense, it's run the ball. The team averaged 5.2 yards per carry, good for eighth in the NFL this season. They are also fifth in the league with 1,024 rushing yards in their first six games.
New England will have its work cut out for it stopping David Montgomery, Khalil Herbert and Justin Fields on the ground in this game. Don't be surprised if Barmore's absence leads to the Patriots putting an extra player in the box in Week 7 at times to force Fields to beat them down the field with his arm.
