Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert remains in the mix for NFL MVP despite dealing with his fair share of ups and downs in his sophomore season.

Heading into Week 10, Herbert is certainly on an upswing; leading his team to an impressive win in Week 9 over the Philadelphia Eagles. He was named the AFC offensive player of the week after finishing 32-38 with 356 yards and two touchdowns He added a rushing TD and led the team on a game-winning drive to seal it as well.

While Herbert is in the hunt for the MVP, he’s on the edge of contention according to updated odds from WynnBET Sportsbook

Latest Odds to Win NFL MVP

  • Tom Brady +350
  • Josh Allen +400
  • Kyler Murray +450
  • Matthew Stafford +700
  • Dak Prescott +750
  • Lamar Jackson +900
  • Aaron Rodgers +900
  • Justin Herbert +1400
  • Joe Burrow +4000

As we can see, Herbert might be one bad game away from falling away from the main pack into “dark horse” territory. Meanwhile, Tom Brady managed to leapfrog the top contenders after last week and now leads the field while Prescott’s odds saw a significant drop.

This begs the question. At +1400, is Justin Herbert still worth a look for MVP futures betting?

He does have a lot going for him to not rule out a second have revelation. His 2,350 yards rank sixth in the NFL and he is tied for fifth with 18 touchdowns. His QBR of 64.1 is fifth-best and his 6 interceptions on the season put him in the middle of the pack. His interception total is worrisome but he seems to throw them in bunches and with weeks of no turnovers in-between. Three of his interceptions came in the first two games of the season and the other three in Week 7 & 8. Herbert had three games with no picks in between and threw none last week against the Eagles.

As far as the Chargers' schedule coming up, there are some speed bumps on the horizon with back-to-back games against the Steelers and Vikings.  They end the year against the Raiders who also have a strong pass defense. But, the Chargers also play the Bengals, Chiefs, and Giants who are among the weaker passing defenses in the NFL.

Herbert will need to be pretty much perfect for the rest of the season and see others struggle for him to climb into the top-3. But, if you are looking for a dark horse, you could do a lot worse than Herbert.
