It was a reality check for Penn State in Ann Arbor last week, losing to Michigan 41-17, but was it also a signal of a changing of the guard?

Sixth year senior Sean Clifford left the loss with an injury, giving five star recruit Drew Allar some garbage time snaps under center. Allar is the future of the program, but is the future now after PSU lost their first Big Ten game? We got the latest quotes from Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin about Clifford's availability for the team's Week 8 matchup against Minnesota:

Latest Injury Update for Sean Clifford

Franklin told the media on Tuesday that Clifford wasn't benched because of his performance against Michigan, but he was removed from the game due to injury. He reiterated that he will be the starting quarterback if healthy enough to play. However, he didn't give a concrete update on Clifford, so we will need to track this injury leading up to kickoff.

Clifford did have a 60-plus-yard run that set up Penn State's only offensive touchdown drive, but besides that he struggled against Michigan, completing seven of his 19 passes for 120 yards. However, if he is well enough to play, he will be out there.

Stay tuned for more updates on Clifford ahead of the start of this one as well as more news on Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan, who is recovering from a concussion.
