Spencer Sanders' shoulder injury has derailed what could've been another special season in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and it may not be getting better anytime soon.

Sanders has been a game-time decision for the last few weeks with a shoulder injury. The ailment went from bad to worse with the Cowboys getting blown out 48-0 at Kansas State with Sanders starting, but it cost him last weeks game, a 37-16 loss to Kansas.

Latest Spencer Sanders Injury Update

Saturday afternoon update: Sanders will miss his second straight game with a shoulder injury.

While we don't have confirmation on Sanders, whose condition appeared to be worsening over the last few weeks, it's concerning that the team's head coach Gundy didn't give any sign that he'll play this week.

The fact that it's on the table that Sanders may miss the rest of the season is enough of a concern. The Cowboys looked out of sorts without their star quarterback on the field, turning the ball over four times in the 21 point loss. Gundy went to Garrett Rangel, who completed 27-of-40 passes for 304 yards. It's unclear who would start in place of Sanders on Saturday if he can't go.

The betting market is likely shaded towards Sanders being out as Oklahoma State is a small home underdog against Iowa State on Saturday.
