The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-3 in the preseason after a 16-15 loss to the Steelers last week. Their struggles from a year ago have carried over into the preseason. Atlanta is 1-1 with a new look team and a promising rookie quarterback behind Marcus Mariota. The Falcons are heading towards the bottom of the league this season by design, and Jacksonville is already there.

These two franchises are like tanking ships passing in the night. The Jaguars found the bottom and are hoping they are on their way up and the Falcons are hoping to find the bottom and reboot.

The only movement on this line has been the total which has only come down a half a point. The Falcons have held as a four point favorite.

Jaguars vs. Falcons Prediction and Best Bet

One reason that I think the Falcons are such big favorites in this game is because Jacksonville used last week against the Steelers as their dress rehearsal. Trevor Lawrence played the first half and went 14/21 for 133 yards. It was not an overly successful dress rehearsal, but the starters played and that will probably be enough for Doug Pederson.

Kenny Pickett diced up the Jacksonville first string defense last week at the end of the first half. Jacksonville was able to get pressure against Pittsburgh’s putrid offensive line, but other than that their defense did not look good. The Falcons have not had the best track record in the preseason as Joe Summers pointed out earlier in the week, but they will likely be giving a lot of meaningful snaps to Mariota and Desmond Ridder.

Last week Ridder really impressed making difficult throws and finished the game 10/13 for 143. He will roll through this Jacksonville defense just like Pickett did a week ago.

Lean: Falcons -4 (-110)
