Jaylen Waddle Injury Reminder of How Fragile Dolphins' Wide Receivers Are

The Miami Dolphins held their breath when first-round pick Jaylen Waddle left the game with a lower left leg injury. Waddle went into the infamous blue tent, walked back into the locker room to get treatment and then returned to the game 10 minutes later.

Waddle is +1800 at WynnBET to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, which puts him tied with his Alabama teammate, Devonta Smith. Waddle’s injury, although it proved to be nothing serious, came off as a warning to the Dolphins about their receiving corps.

Miami’s receiving corps is comprised of Waddle, Will Fuller and DeVante Parker. Waddle has obviously never played in the NFL, but Fuller and Parker have one combined full season between them. Parker played all 16 games in 2019.

With Waddle’s injury scare last night, and the injury history from the other two, Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins should be a little worried about keeping this group together.

Fuller hasn’t played all training camp as he’s dealing with a foot injury. Outside of his rookie season, Fuller hasn’t even played 12 games in a season. He was the star free agent signing for the Dolphins and they still haven’t seen him play. Parker is a little better, but still not where you’d want your top receiver to be.

The Dolphins’ receivers are fragile, which could pose trouble for Miami as the new 17-game season gets near the end. If Miami is in the hunt for a playoff position and can’t get competent receivers for Tagovailoa to throw to, their entire season could be lost.

Everyone is expected to be ready by Week 1 (except Fuller who is suspended for one game), but be on the lookout for injury news out of Miami.
