The New York Jets hit the road to Hard Rock Stadium to take on their AFC East rivals, the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets continue to be basement dwellers in the NFL, sporting a 3-10 record heading into Week 14.

Meanwhile, Miami is coming off a bye week and will be well-rested heading into this home game. The Dolphins rolled over the New York Giants in Week 13 with a final of 20-9. The win leaves them with a 6-7 record and are third in the division in front of the Jets.

Jets vs. Dolphins Prediction and Pick

At first glance, this seems like a pretty obvious spot for the Dolphins to continue trending upwards. They are clearly the better team, playing better ball right now, and have a functional quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. With a full extra week at their back to prepare, this is almost a no-brainer.

However, it was a drama-filled bye week for Miami that left all three running backs on the roster in COVID protocols. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed were placed on the list over the weekend and Phillip Lindsay tested positive Monday morning. That leaves the Dolphins with zero healthy running backs on the 53-man roster. If all three were to be ruled out for Sunday, Miami would be left with Duke Johnson and Gerrid Doaks who are the practice squad backs.

Malcolm Brown is also on the roster but out with a quad injury. There is a lot of time between now and Sunday for the fully vaccinated trio to test out of protocols, but there are no guarantees.

Even with no running backs on the team, they can probably still beat the Jets but I am not so sure about this 8.5 point spread. I think that at least one of these guys will be ready to go but the MIA offense won't have all three. Because I can’t bring myself to bet on the Jets I will side with the defenses. The Jets offense is garbage and with the injuries in Miami, this could be a low-scoring affair.

Pick: Jets & Dolphins UNDER 43 (-115)
