The John Deere Classic gets the short end of the stick on the golf calendar. With most of the top names in golf heading over to Europe to prepare for the Open Championship, the field is often left in a lackluster state.

That's certainly the case this year, but that doesn't mean we don't have some opportunities to cash a few bets.

Here are a few tournament-long matchup bets, with odds via WynnBET Sportsbook, that I like for this week's event.

John Deere Classic Head-to-Head Bets

  • Nick Hardy -130 vs. Lucas Glover
  • Brendon Todd -105 vs. Sahith Theegala
  • Adam Hadwin +125 vs. Webb Simpson

Nick Hardy -130 vs. Lucas Glover

I already like Nick Hardy to win the tournament, so why not a little double-dip on him to beat Lucas Glover?

He's been trending in the right direction, including coming off a career-best T8 at the Travelers Championship. while Glover is going the opposite way. His last four starts have gone T23, T40, T60, and then a T70 last week. He's been one of the worst putters on Tour this season, and I see nothing in his game that makes me think he'll shine in Illinois.

Brendon Todd -105 vs. Sahith Theegala

Sahith Theegala is one of the more popular picks this week, and you know how much I love to go against the narrative and fade the public. He has two top five finishes over his last three starts, but has a T53 sandwiched in there. He has the talent, but his driving accuracy and putting ability this season will let him down more often than not.

Meanwhile, Brendon Todd ranks sixth on Tour in strokes gained: putting, and he's a fantastic wedge player, which will prove critical at TPC Deere Run. I like him quite a bit at -105 against Theegala this week.

Adam Hadwin +125 vs. Webb Simpson

I feel like Webb Simpson is only the favorite this week because he's the only name in the field that the casual sports fan might recognize. His numbers this season don't warrant the short price, especially against a guy like Adam Hadwin.

Hadwin outranks Simpson in just about every area except for driving. Hadwin ranks 34th in total strokes gained this season, compared to Simpson at 48th. So why is he favored by such a big number?

I'll gladly back my fellow Canadian in this matchup.
