Justin Fields' Impressive Arm Making Bears Contemplate Quarterback Plan
Justin Fields has been showing off his arm talent in Bears camp. The rookie has been making plays day in and day out, with an impressive side-armed throw being the highlight to come out of practice a few days ago.
The Bears have repeatedly stuck to their guns and said that Andy Dalton will be the starter, but that could change as they watch Fields put on a show in training camp.
WynnBET currently has several odds up that would suggest Fields is going to be the starter at some point this season. He has better odds than Dalton to win MVP (+10000 to +30000), to lead the league in passing yards (+15000 to none), and to lead the league in passing touchdowns (+10000 to none).
Again, he’s a very natural thrower,” Allen Robinson said. “He can get the ball out of his hands. He has a big arm and things like that. You definitely notice it for a receiver.”
Robinson isn’t the only receiver on the team that’s noticed Fields’ arm talent. During OTAs, Darnell Mooney praised Fields’ deep ball and his accuracy down the field.
Fields’ time as the starter seems inevitable at this point. Dalton is a serviceable quarterback, but it’s clear Fields is seen as the future of the team and will be given the keys soon.
Matt Nagy said that both quarterbacks will see the field in Saturday’s preseason game. It’s unclear whether a good performance by Fields will change the decision for Week 1, but Fields is certainly making his case.
