Kansas State vs. Texas Tech Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 8
By Matt De Saro
Kansas State heads to Jones AT&T Stadium in desperate need of a win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. K-State will be trying to avoid its fourth straight loss after starting the season 3-0 with wins over Stanford, Nevada, and Southern Illinois. Since that hot start, the Wildcats have lost to Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Iowa State. They did manage to cover as 12-point underdogs to Oklahoma, but failed to do the same as six-point dogs against both Oklahoma State and Iowa State. Now eighth in the Big-12, K-State has to be desperate for any signs of life.
The fifth-ranked team in the Big 12, Texas Tech, will be looking to build upon a strong win over the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 7. They are 5-2 on the season but just 2-2 in the Big 12, but this is a great opportunity for them to improve upon that number. This is a big game for Texas Tech in terms of their bowl eligibility as well, something that HC Matt Wells’ has undoubtedly been harping on this week.

Kansas State vs. Texas Tech Prediction and Pick
I have to say off the top, I really like Texas Tech in this game as a one-point favorite. The Red Raiders have a better offense by far, ranking 15th in the nation with 37.0 points per game and 14th with 470.7 yards per game. Their defense could be better, especially at stopping the run. The Red Raiders are ranked 101st in rushing yards allowed per game. A number they will have to improve upon if they hope to climb the Big 12 standings much further.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, rank 66th in yards per game on offense and 57th on defense. Their passing defense is what will be their downfall in this game. The team rams 129th in opponents pass completion percentage and 97th in opponents yards per pass. This is bad news because the Red Raiders offense ranks 14th and 12th in those categories on offense respectively.
There's not a whole lot more that needs to be said about this game, especially with the odds at nearly a pick-em with two teams that are not that close right now.
Prediction: Texas Tech -1.0 (-110)
