Will Howard came to the rescue again for Kansas State as the Wildcats downed Baylor, 31-3 to improve to 7-3 on the year. Now, K-State will have to get past West Virginia and Kansas before a matchup with TCU in the Big 12 championship game that is a near certainty at this point. Meanwhile, West Virginia is ready for a transition. Their Athletic Director, Shane Lyons was fired this week and JT Daniels was benched for Garrett Greene in the Mountaineers 23-20 win over Oklahoma.

WVU could play spoiler in the Big 12 as a home underdog this week. Here are the odds and trends for Kansas State and West Virginia.

Kansas State vs. West Virginia Odds, Spread and Total

WVU and K-State Betting Trends

  • Under is 8-2 in last 10 meetings

Kansas State vs. West Virginia Prediction and Pick

This is a case of two teams who need to hand the team over to their young quarterbacks for good. Will Howard has been better for Kansas State than Adrian Martinez has. They are very different players, Martinez is a run-first QB that can be dynamic, but he has been banged up for a while now and Howard has been winning the Wildcats games. Howard has come on in relief twice this year and has one start. His lone start was a 48-0 win over Oklahoma State. Last week he relieved Martinez part of the way through a scoreless first quarter and led the Wildcats to a 31-3 win.

The same goes for West Virginia and Garrett Greene. He gave the Mountaineers life after he relieved JT Daniels last week. Daniels has been struggling greatly, and Greene wasn’t excellent passing, 12-for-22 for 138 and a touchdown, but that came along with 14 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Both teams are going to be more dynamic if they start the younger guy and I think that is what they will do this week. This could be another Kansas State blowout win like we have seen two of the last three weeks, but I’ll take the over and trust Howard and Greene.

Pick: Over 54.5 (-110)
