Is Kenny Pickett Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Update for Steelers vs. Dolphins in NFL Week 7)
By Peter Dewey
For the first time in his NFL career, Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett will play in primetime on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Pickett cleared concussion protocol earlier this week and is expected to start on Sunday Night Football over veteran Mitch Trubisky. Pickett took over for Trubisky in Week 4 against the New York Jets and started the Steelers' last two games.
Pickett has moved the ball well for the Steelers in his NFL career, but the 2022 first-round pick hasn't been able to turn it into touchdowns, throwing just one score to four interceptions in his first three games. He did run for two scores against the Jets.
The Steelers upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6, but they come into Sunday night's contest as 7.5-point underdogs to Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins.
Kenny Pickett Prop Bets vs. Dolphins for NFL Week 7
I do think Pickett is an upgrade for the Steelers' pass catchers, as he has thrown the ball down the field more than Trubisky appeared to be willing to do in the first few games this season.
Still, he's a risky play in that aspect after totaling just 67 yards on 18 pass attempts in Week 6 against a tough Tampa Bay defense.
I actually like Pickett to use his legs in this game and find the end zone, and he's currently a value at +650.
Pickett used his legs well against the Jets, and with Najee Harris struggling behind a below-average offensive line, Pickett could be called upon in the red zone to get creative. The Dolphins have also given up two rushing scores to quarterbacks already this season.
