Kevin Durant vs Giannis Antetkounmpo: Who Will Score More Points?
At long last, the NBA season is finally here.
The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks will start the season in a star-studded matchup against the Brooklyn Nets -- who they defeated in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last year.
The summer has been filled with dialogue about who is the best player in the world and two of the top candidates, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo, will get their opportunity to make their cases tonight.
WynnBET has both of their player props for points set at 30.5 points, with their odds matching (Over: -125/Under: -115). This gives us our first “Who Will Score More Points?” of the season.
This is as close as it can get as each player averaged over 30 against each other last season, but I’m going to go with Durant. Now that he’s down a superstar, a little more of the scoring responsibility falls on him. The Bucks don’t have anyone that can guard him and the best option would be Jrue Holiday, but he is over six inches shorter than him.
Durant averaged 34.7 points per game during the regular season last year against the Bucks and I expect that to continue tonight. Brooklyn is going to lean on Harden to facilitate the offense and Durant to put the ball in the basket.
Also, we’ve seen Antetokounmpo use the early part of the season to test out his offseason work on his jump shot. I don’t doubt the work the Greek Freak has put in to make his jumper effective, but I’m going to have to see more of it before I trust it.
Durant is just as tall, worlds better of a shooter and can do it from every spot on the floor. I expect both to go over, but Durant will end the night with a little more.
