Kevin Gausman Aims to Keep Giants in First Place Against Rival Dodgers

The San Francisco Giants have held the division lead in the National League West for the majority of the 2021 season, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are right one their tail. 

Los Angeles has pulled within one game in the division with the two teams facing off tonight at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are the favorites to win the NL West on WynnBET at -325 odds, but the Giants have moved into second on the odds list at +325. 

While San Francisco tries to maintain its division lead, it will have it’s ace, Kevin Gausman on the bump on Monday. 

Gausman has been lights out this season, as he sports a 9-3 record to go with a 1.73 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP. He will face off with Tony Gonsolin who sports a 1-0 record and 2.13 ERA in seven games this season (six starts). 

WynnBET has the Dodgers as a -140 favorite on the moneyline with the Giants coming in as a +115 underdog. Still, the Giants are favored on the run +1.5 run line at -180. The total is set at 8.5 runs with the under as a -125 favorite. 

Gausman has been one of the National League’s best pitchers all season, and he will have a chance to prove he can do it against one of baseball’s top teams tonight. 

Given the pitching matchup, the under on the total seems like the play considering Gausman has allowed two runs or less in 16 of his 18 starts this season. He threw six shutout frames against Los Angeles back on May 30 before giving up three runs over five innings against the Dodgers on June 29. 

WynnBET has Gausman’s earned runs prop set at 2.5 on Monday with the under (-140) as a major favorite to the over (+105). The Dodgers sport the second-best offense in baseball (5.32 runs per game), but it’s hard not to give Gausman the respect of an ace in this one given his dominance all year. 

While it may seem tough to take the -140 juice on Gausman’s prop, I’d roll with the under on his runs and the under for the total in what should be a pitcher’s duel.
