Moments before the 2020 NBA Draft, news broke that Klay Thompson had torn his achilles. Thompson was nearing the end of a year-long rehab for a torn ACL he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals.

Now two years later, Thompson is finally feeling healthy again and ready to help the Warriors retool to chase more rings.

"Rehab is going very well," Thompson said on his Instagram live. "I had a great day today. Made some huge strides. Got some jumpers up. It just feels good to get up and down the floor, man."

It’s hard for me to watch (the playoffs) because I know if we were there it would be a different story. But you just gotta challenge that energy into your workouts.”

In Thompson’s first year of absence, the Warriors won the No. 2 pick in the draft and chose James Weisman. This year, they were able to secure the No. 7 pick and the No. 14 pick. It’s been reported that the Warriors are willing to move off of one of those picks to get more immediate help for Thompson and Steph Curry.

The players that are currently projected by WynnBET to be in the Warriors’ draft range are players like Moses Moody (draft position set at 11.5) and Franz Wagner (-125 odds to be drafted under 9.5).

If Thompson comes back near the level he was at, his prediction could be correct. Stephen Curry was in the MVP conversation this season and Draymond Green was All-Defensive First team.

The Warriors will have to compete in a loaded Western Conference next season, but with the play-in, their chances are expanded in case they aren’t able to acquire another quality veteran.
