Kraken vs. Avalanche Prediction and Odds: The Kraken will Keep their Losing Streak Alive
By Matt De Saro
The struggling Seattle Kraken hit the bricks tonight to begin a three-game road trip starting with the Colorado Avalanche. They enter this game as huge underdogs and are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. So far, the first season for the franchise has been rough and the Kraken have only won 10 games overall and are 4-8-2 in away games. Tonight’s game against the Avalanche will be a huge test of how well they can hang with a winning team.
The Avalance are 21-8-2, 3rd in the Central Division, and have won four games in a row coming off an extended break. The break was due to the Avalanche’s six games prior to the New Year being canceled due to COVID. The Avs feature one of the most potent offenses in the league and will be a very tough matchup for the Kraken and their sloppy goaltending.
Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Kraken vs. Avalanche Prediction and Pick
The Kraken has a lot going against them tonight in Colorado. First of all, they are entering this game with just 24 total points on the season which is one of the worst marks in the NHL. Their offense has been a train-wreck this year so far and has scored just 60 goals at full strength.
It is a shame because their defense has been playing very well but has no offense to back them up at all. Additionally, their situation in the net has been less than ideal. Phillip Grubauer has pretty much erased the good this team has done on defense because of his save rate of just .885 and goals saved above expected of -19.3 which is the worst in the NHL by quite a large margin.
The Avs, meanwhile, have scored the fourth most goals overall with 81. This is made even more impressive when you realize that they have played several fewer games than most of the rest of the league due to COVID postponements. They rank seventh in scoring defense and are top-10 in shots on goal allowed.
This is a clear-cut matchup of two teams heading in very different directions. Seattle has dropped five in a row while the Avs are riding a four-game winning streak. The Avalanche already beat the Kraken 7-3 this season and I expect a similar outcome from this game.
Pick: Colorado Avalanche -2.5 (+105)
