The Minnesota Wild is set to host the Seattle Kraken tonight at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul. This is a meaningless game for the Kraken who are in last place in the Pacific Division with a 26-44 overall record. They have long since been eliminated from playoff contention and are just going through the motions until the regular season is finally over.

The Wild, on the other hand, have clinched a playoff berth for 2022, but are fighting for seeding. The Wild and St. Louis Blues are currently tied in the Central Division with 105 points apiece. The Avalanche have already clinched the Central with 116 points. But, the Wild could finish in third place instead of second. I don’t know how much this matters to them but I would guess quite a bit.

Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Kraken vs. Wild Prediction and Pick

The Wild are on a tear to end the season. They have won six of their last seven and are riding a three-game winning streak heading into Friday night. This is the second half of a back-to-back for the Wild. But, I don’t think that will matter much in the end. They are winners of 14 of their last 18 and one could argue the hottest team in the NHL over the last month. They have been dominating opponents as nine of those 14 wins were by two goals or more. Ergo, the Wild are 9-5 ATS in their last 14 wins. I expect more of the same here.

Marc-Andre Fleury will handle duties between the pipes and has been phenomenal for Minnesota. Since joining the team, Fleury is 6-1 with a 0.921 save percentage. He’s also made two starts against Seattle so far this year with a 0.943 save percentage.

There isn’t much more to say really. The Kraken are winners of three in a row, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is a bad team. The Wild are fighting to finish second in the division and are not a bad team.  Give me the Wild at home with some decent odds considering the matchup.

Pick: Wild -1.5 (-115)
