Kansas Bettors Suffer Brutal Bad Beat in NCAA National Championship Win Over UNC
By Ben Heisler
The Kansas Jayhawks nearly pulled it off... The cover, that is.
Down 38-22 with 2:23 left to go in the first half, Kansas completed the largest comeback in NCAA tournament national championship history; defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69.
Only problem? The line closed at Kansas -4.
The cover for the favorites was in clear site.
With just seconds to go, Kansas had the ball on an inbounds play knowing they would be fouled in hopes that the Tar Heels could get another offensive possession. Unfortunately, Dajuan Harris made a crucial mistake; stepping out of bounds as he caught the pass from teammate Christian Braun.
The miscue gave North Carolina the ball back which a chance to send the game to overtime, but Caleb Love's deep three-point shot came up short to give the Jayhawks the championship.
