When the San Francisco 49ers selected quarterback Trey Lance with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, it put a clock on Jimmy Garoppolo's time in San Francisco.

Jimmy G was able to hold off the rookie for the entire 2021 season, leading the 49ers to an NFC Championship Game appearance, but it appears that is as long as he will get.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, who has held all the decisions concerning the quarterback position close to his vest, revealed that the team plans on trading Garoppolo, and it may have done so already if he hadn't had shoulder surgery.

So, if you're betting on the 49ers, you are betting on Lance, who will almost certainly be the team's starting quarterback in 2022, unless he suffers an injury.

WynnBET Sportsbook currently has San Francisco at +1800 odds to win the Super Bowl (Bet $100 to win $1800), +500 to win the NFC and +160 to win the NFC West. As for Lance, he is currently +5000 to win the league's MVP award in 2022.

Where Will Jimmy Garoppolo Be Traded in 2022?

Following the 2022 NFL Draft, we put together a list of potential destinations for Jimmy G in the 2022 season. However, it looks like the only viable teams where he could have a starting job are the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons.

Most other teams in the NFL are either committed to a young quarterback or don't need one at all.

How to Bet 49ers in Futures Market

Personally, I am staying away from the 49ers in the futures market until we get to see more of Trey Lance.

Lance made two starts in 2021 and appeared in six games in total. He showed flashes of his arm strength, yet he only completed 57.7 percent of his passes.

He is certainly a more dynamic offensive threat that Garoppolo, but there are going to be growing pains in his first full season of action in the NFL. Maybe the 49ers are lucky and he has a second season similar to Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson, but I'll believe it when I see it.

For now, I'd stay away from the 49ers in a tough NFC West.
