Lakers Keep Falling in Latest NBA Championship Odds
Fights, suspensions, and drama has surrounded the Los Angeles Lakers all weekend long. Despite getting the win in Detroit following the Isaiah Stewart-LeBron James near melee, the Lakers’ title odds are sliding down the odds standings.
WynnBET currently has the Lakers’ title odds at +800, which is second in the Western Conference and fourth in the overall standings. Los Angeles is 9-9 and currently the No. 9 seed in the West.
The Lakers are expected to make the playoffs and have struggled out the gate due to many factors. LeBron James has missed a lot of time, Russell Westbrook is still integrating himself into the team’s dynamic and key shooters aren’t available right now. Regardless of what the issues are, Los Angeles’ drop in the odds standings is justified.
The Lakers have a net rating of -3.3, which is 24th in the league. They clearly haven’t hit their stride and haven’t put together a solid stretch of games this season. They are also 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Part of the reason the Lakers have been so good in the James-Anthony Davis era is because of the defense. Yet if that is failing, then Laker Nation has something to be worried about. The Lakers are in the upper half of the league in 3-point percentage, but are 19th in three-pointers made. They don’t have the advantage of being able to turn it on from downtown and blow teams out.
Los Angeles must wait until tomorrow to try and start their run because James is suspended for tonight’s game against the Knicks where New York is a 5-point home favorite.
If the Lakers don’t start getting wins in bunches, don’t be surprised if their odds get longer and longer.
