Latest Big 12 Odds Expects a Three-Horse Race at the Top

We're a month into the college basketball season, and teams are slowly starting to get their conference schedule's rolling.

With that in mind, it's time to take a peak at some conference champion odds. One in particular that is interesting is the Big 12. According to the odds at WynnBET Sportsbook, there are three teams above the rest in the race to be the regular season champion.

The Big 12 is a Three-Horse Race

Kansas, Texas, and Baylor all have near identical betting odds to win the Big 12. Through the first few weeks of the season, there has only been a combined two losses between the three teams. Baylor is 8-0, Kansas is 7-1, and Texas is 6-1.

It's difficult to judge teams before their out of conference schedule begins, but Kansas and Baylor have been shooting the lights out so far. Kansas is 10th in the country in effective field goal percentage, and Texas is right behind them at 13th. Baylor ranks 46th in that stat, but it thrives on defense. The Bears rank third in defensive efficiency among all division one college basketball teams.

Can Texas Tech Win the Big 12?

The only other team that could realistically own the Big 12 this season is Texas Tech. The Red Raiders MO, which has been the case for several season, is their defense. They rank fifth in defensive efficiency and are allowing the 15th fewest points per game at 58.5.

They also have an impressive win over No. 13 ranked Tennessee, downing them 57-52. We'll see just how good they are when they face Gonzaga on Dec 12.

The Big 12 will really get rolling with its conference schedule at the beginning of the 2022 calendar year.
