Before the season started, I knew the Jazz were going to be a disappointment.

Yes, they’ve dealt with injuries and COVID all year, but it’s games like last night against the Los Angeles Lakers that give me the confirmation that I was right.

The Jazz were up by seven points with just five minutes to go and proceeded to let the Anthony Davis-less Lakers go on a 21-9 run and beat them.

The loss snapped their six-game winning streak and also showed why they are not to be trusted in the futures market. The Jazz have a major weakness – that is also their biggest strength: Rudy Gobert.

Gobert’s defense holds that team together, but there are some disadvantages to him being on the floor when other teams have an effective small ball lineup. In the postseason, teams will have a blueprint on what to do against the Jazz, and there's not much Utah can do unless Gobert suddenly develops a new set of skills. We saw what happened in the second round last year against the Clippers and the Lakers did the same thing last night.

WynnBET currently has the Jazz’s NBA title odds at +1200. Stay away from that. Utah will break your heart. Utah was the No. 2 seed last year and lost to a Kawhi-less Clippers team in six games. They have the second-best net rating in the league right now, but that is all smoke and mirrors. Until they prove everyone wrong and do it in the playoffs, they will be frauds.

The Jazz haven't been to a conference finals since the 2006-07 season, with a myriad of tragic losses since then. If you bet on the Jazz this season, you will be victim to another one.
