The Utah Jazz are currently the fourth seed in the Western Conference. They’ve had their ups and downs this season, but they could be in line for some more downs in the coming years.

There’s been a lot of reports this season about tension between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. Gobert has been accused of sneak dissing Mitchell by praising Devin Booker’s defense, implying Mitchell needs to give that level of effort.

Their relationship has been on the rocks since early 2020, when Mitchell contracted COVID-19. From there, the relationship has been a rollercoaster.

With the Jazz expected to fall short once again, this team is in line for a breakup. But who will be the one to leave first? Gobert or Mitchell?

Let’s set the odds.

Odds for Which Jazz Star Leaves First

  • Mitchell leaves first: -150
  • Gobert leaves first:+250

Mitchell Leaves First

Mitchell is the bigger star out of the two and likely has a bigger market than Gobert. If Mitchell wants a bigger market, he can force his way out of Utah. He’s a dynamic scorer that can elevate any offense in the league.

While the Jazz would hate to see him go, the haul they could get for Mitchell would be enormous. Mitchell has been dedicated to Utah and has helped revive them back to the top of the conference, but he is one text away from being somewhere else.

Gobert Leaves First

While Gobert certainly has more accolades and could be considered the better player out of the two, the Jazz aren’t going to get a haul for him like Mitchell. Also, finding a young scorer like Mitchell and holding onto him is better for business than to build the team around Gobert.

Gobert is older, doesn’t have a lot of fans and plays on the forgotten side of the ball. If the Jazz wanted to keep Mitchell and a majority of the fans happy, Gobert would be on his way out tomorrow.
