BEST PICTURE

  • Athlete Activism (mental health, social justice, etc.) -150
  • Giannis Leads the Bucks to a Title +100
  • Atlanta Braves Go All In and Win +225
  • Chicago Sky make an underdog run to a title +350
  • Max Verstappen vs. Lewis Hamilton +500

PICK: Athlete Activism -110

Across every sport, we saw athletes step up and use their platform to inspire change. No matter what topic, athletes inserted themselves in conversations and tried to be apart of the community as much as possible. Their presence was a sign of change throughout the sports world.

DARK HORSE: Atlanta Braves Go All In and Win +225

Atlanta sports have been cursed for years. Whether it's the 28-3 Super Bowl collapse or the Braves blowing a 3-1 lead the year prior, this championship was for every fan of every team in Atlanta.

BEST MALE ATHLETE IN A LEADING ROLE

  • Shohei Ohtani -120
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo +150
  • Tom Brady +200
  • Max Verstappen +300
  • TJ Watt +350

PICK: Shohei Ohtani -120

Shohei Ohtani is the real life version of a video game character. He is a great pitcher and can turn around and be the best hitter on the team. Ohtani's two-way game is an advancement of the sport and should be celebrated.

DARK HORSE: Giannis Antetokounmpo +150

Antetokounmpo, after being swept in the playoffs the year before, led the Bucks to their first championship in franchise history and he was the Finals MVP. With the win, Antetokounmpo cemented himself as one of the all-time great talents to play this game.

BEST FEMALE ATHLETE IN A LEADING ROLE

  • Candace Parker +250
  • Simone Biles +300
  • Kayla Harrison +200
  • Aliyah Boston +115
  • Ashleigh Barty -175

PICK: Ashleigh Barty -175

Barty has won two of her last three majors and has been the No. 1 women's tennis player since 2019. Even going out in retirement, she was able to put together a dominant three-year stretch and be the best tennis player -- with a sizeable gap.

DARK HORSE: Kayla Harrison +200

Kayla Harrison is still dominant in her sport. Even after winning a Gold Medal in 2016, Harrison continues to be at the top of the class.

BEST MALE ATHLETE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

  • Chris Paul +500
  • Ja'Marr Chase +150
  • Cooper Kupp -150
  • Dustin Poirier +850
  • Jorge Soler +375

PICK: Cooper Kupp -110

Cooper Kupp had one of the greatest seasons a wide receiver has ever had. He nearly broke Calvin Johnson's single-season receiving record and was the Super Bowl MVP. He did it all this year.

DARK HORSE: Ja'Marr Chase +150

Chase entered the Bengals facility as a rookie and was WR1 and helped lead the offense to a Super Bowl. He's set the foundation for explosive offenses for years to come.

BEST FEMALE ATHLETE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

  • Courtney Vandersloot +100
  • Lindsay Horan +550
  • Carissa Moore +200
  • Allyson Felix -125
  • A'ja Wilson +300

PICK: Allyson Felix -125

Felix helped bring home a Gold Medal for Team USA on the 4x100 relay. It doesn't get better than that.

DARK HORSE: Lindsay Horan +550

Horan could get some late love in this category, but the thing that is holding me up is that she didn't win it all. Without a Gold Medal, I can't give her the top spot.

BEST DIRECTOR

  • Brian Snitker +150
  • Monty Williams +650
  • Sean McVay +200
  • Kirby Smart -135
  • Dawn Staley +100

PICK: Kirby Smart -135

My pick for Smart is simple. If you beat Nick Saban to win a National Championship, you are the coach of the year.

DARK HORSE: Brian Snitker +150

Snitker overcame years of bad sports juju in the city of Atlanta. To lose his best young player and still win the World Series says a lot about how well he kept that team together.

BEST COSTUME DESIGN

  • Suns Valley Jerseys +100
  • Marlins Sugar King Jerseys +300
  • Atlanta United FC Forest Kit +1000
  • Indiana Fever Stranger Things Jersey +500
  • Chicago White Sox City Connect Jersey -120

PICK: Chicago White Sox City Connect Jersey -120

It's hard to mess up a black and white pinstripe jersey, especially a baseball one. Baseball jerseys are the most stylish jerseys on the planet and the White Sox captured the spirit of the city without deviated from who they are.

DARK HORSE: Suns Valley Jerseys +100

Phoenix fell in love with these jerseys. The Valley jerseys are now synonymous with one of the most successful years in Suns history. It will live on as a marker of this era.

BEST CHOREOGRAPHY

  • Alabama's Crimson Crane +1500
  • Buccaneers row, row, rowing their boat +500
  • Griddy Time -450
  • Chiefs have to revive Byron Pringle +850
  • Iman Shumpert wins Dancing With The Stars +125

PICK: Griddy Time -450

The Griddy is inescapable. It's swept the nation and social media and has become an cultural phenomenon. Unlike other dance trends, the Griddy requires a little more work -- providing it with a longer shelf life.

DARK HORSE: Iman Shumpert wins Dancing With The Stars +125

Shumpert is the first athlete to win Dancing with the Stars. His run was very unlikely and he even beat out JoJo Siwa in the process. From the Tango to an Andre 3000 impersonation, Shumpert put on for every athlete.

BEST SHORT

  • Ja Morant's two-handed block -250
  • Antonio Brown checks out early +600
  • Joc Pederson rocks his pearls +1000
  • Derrick Lewis throws his cup to the crowd +800
  • Tom Brady has a little too much fun +100

PICK: Ja Morant's two-handed block -250

Morant had one of the greatest blocks I've ever seen against the Lakers. For a 6'3" point guard to touch the top of the square with two hands is ridiculous.

DARK HORSE: Antonio Brown checks out early +600

The memes that came out of this act were spectacular. It seems indicative of this entire era of Antonio Brown's persona and was a highlight of the season.

BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING

  • Megan Rapinoe +120
  • Derrick Henry +175
  • Sean O'Malley +500
  • Sha'Carri Richardson -250
  • Fernando Tatis Jr. +300

PICK: Sha'Carri Richardson -250

Forget about where she finishes, Richardson is always going have her wig set and nails done. Her style, along with her skill, has made her one of the most recognizable figures in all of sports.

DARK HORSE: Megan Rapinoe +120

In the same vein as Richardson, Rapinoe's pink hair is a bold statement and is part of her aura. However, her look is not as intricate as Richardson's, so I have her in second.
