The NBA was set ablaze last night when Nikola Jokic blindsided Markieff Morris towards the end of the Heat-Nuggets game in Denver.

Let’s start out with this.

Both players should’ve been ejected from the game. Markieff Morris was being excessive with his foul on Jokic. Nikola Jokic was even more excessive with his retaliation and deserves the suspension that is coming his way.

Nevertheless, last night brought up a weirdly romanticized aspect of the “old NBA” and that’s in-game fights. The idea of two players scrapping it out like they’re in a hockey match always starts good conversations, but has largely been looked at differently since the infamous “Malice at the Palace.”

That’s not what we’re talking about here. The Morris twins and the Jokic brothers have shown the world they are ready for action at any moment, so the BetSided crew decided to create odds on who they would take in a 2-on-2, no-rules street fight.

Who are you taking?

Jokic Brothers vs Morris Twins Fight Prediction

Jokic Brothers: -200

When Nikola Jokic was a kid growing up in Serbia, he told Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated back in 2017 that his brothers Nemanja (6’6”) and Strahinja is (6’8”) would come up with the most dangerous pranks and punishments just to amuse themselves:

“He once held down my arms and threw knives all around my head,” Nikola told Jenkins in the piece.

The Morris twins are tough as nails, and have been through it all, but knife throwing? For fun?

I want NONE of that smoke. Those are two dudes with nothing to lose that share one interest: keeping Nikola in the league to live out his dream. -- Ben Heisler

When it comes to street fighting, which this fight would devolve into because of the emotions involved, size isn't quite as massive of an advantage as in a clean boxing match. Instead, pure psychosis makes a bigger impact. That's a big reason I'm going with the Jokic brothers to win here. They're clearly crazy, or have you forgotten them yelling at Devin Booker during the playoffs last year?

Those are the faces of two insane men with crazy running through their veins.

Sure, Markieff and Marcus Morris are 6'8" and around 250 pounds. But Nemanja Jokić is 6'6" according to his college basketball bio and big bro Strahinja doesn't look too much shorter than that. Strahinja also looks like he's taken a punch of 50 to the face in his day too. So yeah, give me the Jokic brothers in this fight all day.  -- Brian Giuffra

In a no-rules street fight, the dirtiest fighter has an advantage because nothing is off limits. What Jokic did last night was dirty, even though Morris’ preceding body check was also uncalled for. Like Brian said earlier, crazy has a leg up and from the looks of it, the Jokic Brothers have a lot of that.

The Morris twins are “Hold me back” guys and it's clear -- especially with Markieff.

There’s "tough" guys around the NBA and the Morris twins play that role perfectly. If it goes to outside the lines, I’ll take the Jokic brothers. -- Donnavan Smoot

If there's one thing I've learned in my time as a UFC fan and bettor, it's that you never bet against Eastern Europeans in a fight. However tough you think someone is, Eastern Europeans are a different breed and that goes for the Jokic brothers as well.

If you think I'm going to pick against a guy nicknamed "the Joker" who grew up in former Yugoslavia, you're sadly mistaken. I don't care what city or street the Morris twins are from. Unless they grew up in war-torn Eastern Europe, I'll back the Jokic brothers without hesitation. -- Iain MacMillan

Give me the Jokic brothers all day in a fight. One is apparently 6'6" and the other is similarly sized to Nikola, say around 6'10" and have clearly shown that they are passionate to defend their brother.

I get that the Morris' have a tough guy person around the league, but I'm taking the Jokic brothers at anything -200, they seem willing to do anything to defend their brothers honor even if he made a dirty play. -- Reed Wallach

DRAW: +500

I don’t really have a take on who would win a fight between the Jokic brothers and Morris twins, I just think there’s no room for what Jokic did in basketball. Yes, Morris gives him an unnecessary elbow on the take foul, but for Jokic to blindside Morris afterwards with a body check was uncalled for. I hope he gets suspended for the move, and I’m excited to see how either Marcus or Markieff respond next time Denver faces one of the twins. -- Peter Dewey
