Let's Set Odds: Will Texas A&M Make the NCAA Tournament?
By Ben Heisler
The Texas A&M Aggies have been a tail of two teams this season. At one point, the Aggies had lost eight games in a row in the midst of the SEC season. Headed down the stretch, they've won seven of their last eight, and eight of their last 10 games.
Unfortunately, their dream for an automatic bid to the NCAA men's tournament fell short on Sunday afternoon, falling to the No. 2 seeded Tennessee Volunteers 65-50 in the SEC Tournament title game.
Is the Aggies' late run enough to convince the selection committee that they belong?
Will Texas A&M Make the March Madness Tournament?
WynnBET Sportsbook does not currently have odds up for this particular prop, but if I were setting the odds, this is where I would have it.
- YES -125
- NO +100
The Aggies are currently a 12-seed according to the latest updates over at BracketMatrix, but that may change following the Richmond Spiders' upset win over the Davidson Wildcats. The Spiders were the No. 6 seed in the A-10 Tournament, and Davidson is projected as a 9-seed, which likely cancels out one team on the bubble. Whether that's Wake Forest, Oklahoma, Michigan, Rutgers, or Princeton, another 1-seed that fell in their championship game to Yale in the Ivy League final, remains to be seen.
Ultimately, I think the Aggies' overall resume is enough for one of the final spots left. They went 12-9 in the SEC, arguably the most complete conference in the country, 3-4 vs. ranked opponents, and are amongst the top 68 teams in both KenPom and NET rankings, coming in at 42 and 51.
The Aggies are a deserving team that should be rewarded for their perseverance to fight back into contention.
