For the second consecutive game, the New York Liberty will play a professional basketball game before the clock strikes noon on the east coast.

The previous matchup did not go well, as the Las Vegas Aces took it to New York in their home building 108-74; building a 37-13 first quarter lead and never looking back.

Meanwhile, Connecticut also fell 91-83 to the Aces back on Sunday afternoon in a nationally televised ABC game, but were outscored by 10 in the second half; coughing up a first half lead to the WNBA title favorites. The Sun played without their best player in Jonquel Jones, who is also missing today's game while she remains in health and safety protocols.

How will today's tri-state rivalry go down?

Liberty vs. Sun Prediction and Pick

With Jones ruled out for the second consecutive game, I think the Liberty are in a fantastic spot as a road underdog.

The impact of not having Jones in the lineup is massive. She leads the league in net rating, and over a three-plus season sample size, the results with her off the court vs. on the floor are massive.

The Sun are 12-16 without Jones, and are 40-11, including the 2020 bubble season with her.

Meanwhile, the Liberty's previous loss was brutal, and while they've lost three straight, it's important to note their competition. They lost a back-to-back on the road to Phoenix by 3 to end the first half following an all-time performance from Sabrina Ionescu in a win vs. the Aces, and then lost a six-point game to Las Vegas at home before that.

Connecticut has the advantage in most of the numbers and metrics, but without Jones, they certainly don't deserve to be this big of a favorite. Give me all of the value on New York today.

PICK: Liberty +8.5 (-115)
