Lions vs. Steelers: Pittsburgh Has the Three Best Quarterbacks Playing this Week
By Josh Yourish
The Detroit Lions have a lot to figure out as an organization, but surprisingly the Pittsburgh Steelers have more questions to answer as a franchise than Detroit. It could be the first time maybe in the history of both franchises that Detroit feels more comfortable heading into a season.
Pittsburgh still needs to figure out who their starting quarterback for Week 1 of the regular season is. Mitch Trubisky has been named the starter for the preseason finale, but Kenny Pickett is breathing down his neck.
We will likely get answers to the burning questions this week as Pittsburgh and Detroit wrap up the preseason. Let’s take a look at the odds from WynnBET.
Lions vs. Steelers Odds, Spread and Over/Under
Lions vs. Steelers Odds, Spread and Over/Under Movement in Preseason Week 3
The Steelers opened as a decent favorite and the spread has only grown throughout the week. They opened at -195 and are now -208 in WynnBET. The spread was four points, but Pittsburgh is now either -4.5 or -5 depending on where you look. The total has also gone up from 38 to 39.
Lions vs. Steelers Prediction and Best Bet
The main concern for Pittsburhg is the offensive line. That unit really struggled last week and many of the starters played well into the second half against Jacksonville. The Steelers need an answer in their Quarterback battle, but will struggle to evaluate their guys if they cannot protect.
Though Kenny Pickett played really well in his short time behind that offensive line last week. Pickett went 6/7 for 76 yards and a touchdown in two series against the Jaguars. Unless he blows away Mike Tomlin and cements himself as the starter then he will get more playing time this week than he did a week ago. When Pickett has been on the field the Steelers have been good.
Detroit is mostly just trying to figure out who their backup quarterback is and rumors are that it could be the Steelers, Mason Rudolph is David Blough or Tim Boyle continue to struggle in the preseason.
Preseason betting is about quarterbacks and the Steelers will have the best quarterback on the field for the entire game with Jared Goff getting this week off.
Pick: Steelers -4.5 (-110)
