The Detroit Lions lost the Chicago Bears last week, 24-14, and the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Cleveland Browns, 14-7. Which NFC North team can rebound in week 5?

Rebound might be the wrong word to describe what winless Detroit needs this week. They have two losses each at home and on the road, and both of their road losses were by 10 or more. They will unfortunately be in Minnesota this week.

The Vikings ran into a very solid Browns defense that only allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for 203 yards and 54 combined rushing yards from running backs Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. On the other side of the ground attack, Minnesota’s defense got flattened by the Cleveland combo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, as the two collected 169 rushing yards combined.

Will the Lions pick up that first victory, or will the Vikings get back on track?

Here are the odds for this NFC North matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Lions vs. Vikings Betting Trends

  • The Over is 4-1 in the Lions last five games as a road underdog.
  • The Over is 4-0 in the Vikings last four games after scoring less than 15 points in the previous game.
  • Between Minnesota and Detroit, the favorite is 6-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings.
  • Lions are 4-10-2 against the spread in their last 16 meetings in Minnesota.

Lions vs. Vikings Prediction

Both Detroit and Minnesota allow over 130 rushing yards per game. This matchup has the potential to become a track meet.

I think that the combos of Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison of the Vikings, and D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Willams of the Lions, will both rush for a combined 150 or more yards as each team will look to minimize any mistakes through the air and capitalize on their opponents’ weaker rushing defenses.

I’m taking Detroit at +8.5 in this matchup, but I wouldn’t play it any lower.
