Long Island vs. St. John's Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, November 29 (Expect High Pace, Plenty of Points)
By Peter Dewey
The St. John’s Red Storm are off to a 7-0 start in the 2022-23 season, and they have one of the more impressive profiles at KenPom in the early going.
The Johnnies rank 48th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency, 38th in adjusted defensive efficiency and just outside the top 100 (101st) in effective field goal percentage.
St. John’s will look to keep its undefeated season going against the Long Island University Sharks, who enter this game at 1-4. LIU was blown out by another Big East team, Marquette, earlier this season.
Can Mike Anderson’s St. John’s squad stay perfect and cover the spread in this game?

There’s no doubt that St. John’s is the better team here, but asking anyone to cover 29.5 points is a tall task no matter who the opponent is.
The Johnnies are a veteran team that has two elite playmakers in Posh Alexander and Andre Curbelo, and it’s allowed them to get out and push the ball so far this season.
St. John’s averages the third shortest average time of possession in the country and plays at the No. 2 adjusted tempo.
LIU also likes to play fast, ranking 33rd in adjusted tempo, although the team’s offense isn’t close to as potent.
St. John’s has played two games similar to this matchup this season, coming in as major favorites against Central Connecticut and Merrimack. While the Johnnies won those games going away, there was also a theme… a ton of points were scored.
Those two games had combined scores of 169 and 165, way over today’s total of 151.
This should be an uptempo game, and I wouldn’t be shocked if St. John’s pushes 100 points after facing several tougher opponents in its recent games.
