The Los Angeles Galaxy and the Sacramento Republic are set to face off today in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open Cup this evening.

The Galaxy punched their ticket to the final eight after beating in-state rivals the Los Angeles FC. Likewise, Sacramento beat another California team when they shut out the San Jose Earthquakes last month. The Republic now has three wins in a row and a ton of momentum heading into this critical match against the Galaxy.

Here are the odds for the matchup courtesy of WynnBET

Galaxy vs. Republic Odds and Over/Under

3-Way Moneyline:

  • Galaxy: -180
  • Sacramento : +415
  • Draw: +335

Over/Under: 2.5 (Over: -180/Under: +135)

Galaxy vs. Republic Prediction and Pick

There may be no finer defense in the MLS Western Conference than the L.A. Galaxy. They have allowed just 16 goals in 15 games and just three so far in the U.S. Open Cup. Much like the Republic, LA is on a three-game unbeaten streak after a rough 3-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo in May. Unlike Sacramento, however, the Galaxy played to a draw last weekend against Portland 1-1.

USL Championship side Sacramento hasn’t been beaten in their last five games, and are 4-0-1 in that span with a draw to Oakland. Other than that, they beat El Paso 1-0, upset the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0, eked out a win against San Antonio 1-0, and beat Detroit City 2-0. They closed out their recent run with a 2-0 win over the Galaxy II last weekend. Now, it's time to see if they can take on the LA Galaxy's main team today.

As the odds clearly show, bookmakers don’t have a lot of faith in Sacramento upsetting another MLS team tonight. I give a lot of credit to the Republic for that upset over San Jose, but the Galaxy at home are a different beast.

There isn’t a ton of value on the 3-way-Moneyline so I’m going to take a chance on the Galaxy -1.0 on the Asian Handicap.

PICK: Galaxy -1.0 (-115) Asian Handicap
