Louisville vs. Ole Miss Prediction and Odds for College Football Week 1
By Peter Dewey
Louisville and Ole Miss will close out Week 1 of the college football season on Monday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. EST. The Rebels will be without head coach Lane Kiffin after he tested positive for COVID-19, but they are still set as heavy betting favorites.
Louisville and Ole Miss have never played each other in football, and the Rebels haven’t faced an ACC team since 2016 when it opened the year against Florida State.
Coming off of a 5-5 season in Kiffin’s first year at Ole Miss, the Rebels are looking to get off to a strong start in the 2021 campaign.
Here’s how the odds for Monday’s matchup look at WynnBET:

Louisville vs. Ole Miss Prediction
The Rebels are heavy favorites in this one, but not having Kiffin does have me a little concerned about the team’s game plan even though the line hasn’t moved on the game.
I think the pick to make in this game is to take the under, even though Ole Miss averaged 39.2 points per game last season and Louisville averaged 29.5 points per game.
So far in Week 1, the under has hit much more often than the over, and a lot of teams have shown some serious rust in their first game of the season. Maybe having fans back and a louder atmosphere has played a role, but 76.0 points in this game is a major ask, even though Ole Miss is one of the better offenses in college football.
I don’t expect a Clemson-Georgia type of finish, but count me out on an absolute shootout in Monday’s matchup.
