Louisville vs. Virginia Prediction and Odds for ACC Tournament Second Round
By Matt De Saro
The 11-seed Louisville Cardinals got their ACC Tournament started last night after beating the 14-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last night. Their reward is a matchup against the 18-12 No. 6 seed Virginia Cavaliers.
Don’t let Virginia's down year fool you into thinking this will be another win for the Cardinals. In fact, UVA beat Louisville just four days ago 71-61.
So why are we seeing a spread at six here? Not for me to say but it’s a very beatable line for two teams that are not as well-matched as some believe.
Here are the odds for this matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Louisville vs. Virginia Odds, Spread, and Total
Spread:
- Louisville +6 (-110)
- Virginia -6 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Louisville +200
- Virginia -250
Total: 122 (Over -110/Under -110)
Louisville vs. Virginia Prediction and Pick
It's clear to me after going over the numbers from their previous matchup that Louisville was totally unmatched. They had no real answer for the Cavaliers' offense and allowed them to shoot almost 60 percent from behind the arc. They shot over 51 percent from the field and showcased their defense that ranks 81st in the country in adjusted efficiency. This team held opponents to scores in the 60s or less in 10 of their last 11 games of the year.
All Virginia needs to do is not let Sydney Curry take over the front court. Curry’s season-long averages aren’t eye-popping, but he's scored at least 24 points in two of his last four games and in double digits in all four. His rebounding totals are also up and he’s grabbed 31 boards in the last three games. He only played 25 minutes last night and won't be as worn out as the rest of the team.
While Louisville was up battling Tech last night, Virginia was back at the hotel relaxing. All signs point to another big win from the Cavaliers, covering a surprisingly small number.
Pick: Virginia -6 (-110)
