LSU and Florida are two teams in pretty much identical situations. They are both 4-2 in their first year under a new head coach and trying to get their offense to work consistently.

This has become one of the most fun rivalries in the SEC with exciting games nearly every time they play. Remember the 2020 shoe throw game? Maybe we could get something like that this weekend, to kick off the Brian Kelly versus Billy Napier era of LSU versus Florida.

LSU vs. Florida Prediction and Pick

There are so many similarities between these teams. Not only are we trying to learn about their new head coach and how they will succeed in the SEC, but we are also constantly trying to learn about their quarterbacks. After Week 1, Anthony Richardson looked like a Heisman trophy candidate, now he is third in the Power 5 in interceptions. Just last week, Richardson only threw for 66 yards in Florida’s win over Missouri.

Meanwhile Jayden Daniels was throwing for 300 yards in a 40-13 LSU loss to Tennessee at home. It’s hard to know what to do with either quarterback or who to trust, but what I can trust is the Florida rushing attack.

Florida is 18th in the country in rushing yards per game, which is fourth in the SEC, but still impressive with an average of 213.2 yards on the ground. The Gators get to face an LSU defense that just got gashed by Tennessee, not one of the three teams ahead of Florida, for 263 rushing yards.

Richardson might not even throw for 100 yards again, but LSU’s run defense won’t be able to hold up. I like Florida in this one, and honestly isn’t it just way more fun to root against Brian Kelly? That guy seems like he’d be one of the worst people to hang out with out of any college football head coach, and that is saying a lot.

Pick: Florida -2.5 (-107)
