The Orlando Magic are heading into Staples Center on Sunday in the second game of a back-to-back to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Magic are just 5-21 and are holding down the basement of the Southeast Division after losing on Saturday night to the Clippers. They have lost three straight and 10 of their last 11.

On the flip side, the Lakers are coming off a win over the lowly Oklahoma City Thunder 116-95 on Friday proving they are capable of beating up on bad teams. With the win, the Lakers moved above .500 and are now 14-13 and fourth place in the Pacific Division standings. With an eight-game gap between them and division co-leaders Warriors and Suns, the Lakers have a lot of work to do to get back into the mix.

Magic vs. Lakers Odds, Spread, and Total

Spread:

  • Magic +10.5 (-110)
  • Lakers -10.5 (-110)

  • Magic +450
  • Lakers -600

Total:

  • 220.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Magic vs. Lakers Prediction and Pick

Orlando might be the worst team in the NBA right now. They are averaging just 101.6 points per game and are allowing 112 on defense. They are among the worst teams in the league in terms of field goal percentage (42.4 percent) and shooting from deep (32.6 percent).

I do worry a bit about the Lakers covering this spread without Anthony Davis on the court tonight. They are still a far better team and have two former MVP winners in LeBron James and Russel Westbrook. While the Lakers are fighting for playoff seeding, the Magic are just fighting to remain competitive in the NBA. They have lost 13 of 15 and six of their last seven losses were by double digits. This should be a cakewalk for the Lakers at home who are starting to heat up after a slow start.

Pick: Los Angeles Lakers -10.5 (-110)
