The winless Orlando Magic head to Madison Square Garden on Monday to take on the New York Knicks and Jalen Brunson at 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Knicks dominated the Detroit Pistons on Friday in their home opener, with six different players finishing in double figures in the win.

New York has the potential to be one of the deeper teams in the NBA, and this is certainly a winnable game at home given the spread. The Magic and No. 1 overall pick, Paolo Banchero, haven’t been blown out yet this season, losing their first three games by a combined 20 points.

Who has the edge in this battle of playoff hopefuls in the East?

Magic vs. Knicks Prediction and Pick

I have to side with New York at home here, as the team has looked solid to start the season with Brunson running the show.

The Knicks new point guard has yet to turn the ball over, and New York forced overtime on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies before easily handling an up-and-coming Pistons team that actually beat Orlando in its season opener.

Banchero, Cole Anthony and some of Orlando’s young talent is intriguing, but the Knicks should be able to handle this team at home with everyone (outside of Quentin Grimes) healthy.

Right now, the Knicks rank seventh in both defensive and offensive rating while Orlando is 20th and 22nd in those same categories.
