Manchester City vs Inter Milan Odds
Manchester City vs Inter Milan Prediction
Manchester City won the Premier League two weeks ago, claimed the FA Cup over Manchester United this past weekend and now stand one win away from claiming their first Champions League title. If they win this, they’ll be only the second team in history to win the Prem, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season, joining the legendary 1999 Manchester United squad.
As the odds above indicate, City are huge favorites to do just that and for good reason. They have one of the most formidable attacks ever assembled led by Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne, not to mention FA Cup star and team captain Ilkay Gundogan.
Inter Milan are not nearly as talented or decorated. They finished third in Serie A and were thumped by league champions Napili, 3-1, in late May.
Like most Italian teams that make it to the Champions League final, the key to their success is defense. They’ve had five shutouts in their last six Champions League games, but that also came against Benfica, Porto and Milan. In the group stage, they lost twice to Bayern and gave up three goals in one of their games against Barcelona.
Romelu Lukaku is likely the only player on Inter’s team you’ve heard of before and the Belgian striker is hardly what he once was. Lautaro Martinez is Inter’s top striker.
Beyond the challenge Inter faces trying to slow down City’s attack, I also feel they’ll have issues scoring. Since the new year started, Manchester City has recored 16 shutout wins and conceded more than one goal only twice. City hammered the same Bayern team that beat Inter twice in qualifying during their first Champions League quarterfinal match and haven’t lost a Champions League match this season.
Inter has had a nice run against mediocre competition, but against a superiorly-talented, battle-tested opponent with history in their sight, I don’t see it.
Prediction: Manchester City 3, Inter Milan 0
Manchester City vs Inter Milan Best Bet
Based on the prediction above, you can guess where my spread bets are headed. My best bet is Manchester City -1.5, which you can get at plus-odds at most books.
In addition to that, I’m going to sprinkle a little on Manchester City -2.5.
City haven’t been dominating teams like that recently, going 2-1-1 and failing to beat a team by more than one in their two wins. But two of those matches came with the Premier League all but wrapped up and several stars sitting and another was against United in the FA Cup Final, an opponents that knows City well and is used to their style of play.
That tune-up, I believe, have prepared City to peak in the Champions League final where they’ll face an overmatched opponent unprepared for the speed and creativity City play with.
Best Bet: Manchester City -1.5
Manchester City vs Inter Milan Prop Bet
Kevin De Bruyne always seems to play well in big moments and I believe he’s going to have another big one here. I like his prop to get an assist in this game as City’s attack originates from its midfield and De Bruyne is the maestro of it all.
I also might sprinkle a few bucks on him to score a goal too as the odds there are juicy. He’s been more of a facilitator than scorer for City this year, but players of his caliber aren’t held down very long.
Prop Bet: Kevin De Bruyne to give 1 or more assists
