An All-Canadian East vs. West battle is set for Tuesday night NHL action when the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Edmonton Oilers.

The Maple Leafs are clinging on to the top spot in the Atlantic Division with a 19-8-2 record, while the Oilers look to put a stop to their five-game losing skid.

Connor McDavid is already an overwhelming favorite to win the NHL's Art Ross Trophy as the league's MVP, but tonight he'll face one of his biggest competitors in Auston Matthews. This will be the first of two meetings between these two teams this season.

Maple Leafs vs. Oilers Prediction and Pick

Normally, there the OVER would be an auto bet any time these two teams face-off, but I'm going to stay away from that bet tonight and take the Maple Leafs at -114.

The Oilers are usually an offensive powerhouse, but over each team's last 10 games, the Oilers only rank 15th in high danger scoring chances and 20th in goals per 60 minutes. Toronto may not have the best defense in the world, but Jack Campbell makes up for it with his 1.99 GAA and his .935 save percentage.

Meanwhile, the Oilers anxiously await the return of starting goaltender Mike Smith from injured reserve. Ranking 25th in high danger scoring chances against is a killer for any team who doesn't have a stud netminder in between the pipes, and Mikko Koskinen hasn't been getting it done this season. He sports a 3.05 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.

I feel comfortable backing the Maple Leafs as small favorites tonight at WynnBET.

Pick: Maple Leafs -114
