Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Prediction and Odds (Detroit Primed for a Breakout Performance)
By Matt De Saro
The Toronto Maple Leafs came away with a much-needed win last night over the Minnesota Wild 3-1. The Maple Leafs have been wildly inconsistent lately and have been doing more losing than winning. Toronto is 1-3 in their last four games and 5-5 in their last 10. They just haven’t been able to string wins together this month. Tonight, Toronto heads to Detroit to take on the Red Wings who currently sit in fifth in the Atlantic Division.
The Red Wings are coming off a brutal 5-2 loss to the league-leading Avalanche. The Red Wings are also playing very up and down right now with a 5-7 record over their last 12 games. Here are the odds for tonight’s Original Six showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Prediction and Pick
The Leafs took a big step towards getting back on track on Thursday night when they locked down the Wild offense and came away with a 3-1 victory. The team looked far more like the dominant defense that started the season and a lot less like the team that was getting beaten up on a near-nightly basis over the last month or so.
The Red Wings, meanwhile, are hitting a stride of their own recently and this team is finally starting to come together. Detroit also deals with issues of consistency, but they are a young team that is still trying to learn how to play together. Over their last 10 games, the Red Wings broke even, but during that stretch, their expected goals total and 5v5 stats all went up. While the results are still not there on some nights, this team is gathering steam and I think is primed for a breakout game. This could be that game.
The Maple Leafs are dealing with a virus running through the locker room that caused Ilya Mikheyev to leave the Wild game and the Red Wings are playing better and better each game. I'll take a shot at the home dogs here.
Pick: Red Wings +180 to win
