It's been a while since Marin Cilic has been on Tennis' main stage, but he is back and looks the part.

Cilic is looking to make his first Grand Slam final since the 2018 Australian Open in the semifinals of the 2022 French Open, his best result at Roland-Garros in his professional career. The 33-year-old Croatian will face World No. 8 Casper Ruud, who is in his first Grand Slam semifinals.

Ruud is a big favorite in this one, expected to breakthrough to the Finals, but can Cilic continue his fine form after disposing of World No. 7 Andrey Rublev in a 5 setter in the quarters? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Marin Cilic vs. Casper Ruud Odds, Spread, Total

Spread:

  • Cilic: +4.5 (-120)
  • Ruud: -4.5 (+100)

Moneyline:

  • Cilic: +180
  • Ruud: -225

Total: 38.5 (Over -110/Under -10)

Marin Cilic vs. Casper Ruud Prediction and Pick

Fatigue could play a role in this match after the 33-year-old went 5 sets, but I'm more concerned about the inexperience of Ruud factoring into this outcome. While Ruud overpowered upstart Holger Rune in the quarterfinals, he looked shaky on his way to a 4 set victory, needing a tiebreaker in the third set and spraying the ball across the court.

Meanwhile, Cilic has been serving at an elite rate during this campaign at Roland-Garros and while he needed to go 5 sets with Rublev, his ability to avoid trouble on serve can keep him in each set. When the moments get big, I expect the Croatian to win out. He has been in the second most 5 setters of anyone on tour (behind only Novak Djokovic), so if this goes long I expect his moxy to play out, but even in late set games, Cilic to outlast Ruud.

Ruud is talented and should be a slight favorite, but this is a big ask for a player who has never played in a Grand Slam semifinals before. I'm going to side with Cilic and for his run to continue into the French Open finals.

PICK: Cilic +180
