After snapping a four-game losing streak with a win over the Marlins yesterday, the 12-10 Seattle Mariners hope to string some victories together as they take on the 11-11 Houston Astros at 8:10 PM EST tonight.

Houston has lost two in a row after winning four straight and will send Jake Odorizzi to the hill today. Odorizzi had a rough start to the year, but may have gotten back on track with a six-inning, one hit gem against the Rangers in his last start.

The Mariners will counter with Marco Gonzales, who limited the Astros to one run over seven innings last month but has been shaky overall. He lasted just one out in his most recent start after being hit in the wrist by a ball in play so his health will be something to monitor.

Can Seattle notch a second-straight win or will Houston prevail? Let's take a peak at the odds from WynnBET to help pick a winner ahead of this Mariners vs Astros matchup:

Mariners vs Astros Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Mariners +1.5 (-180)
  • Astros -1.5 (+150)

Moneyline:

  • Mariners: +116
  • Astros: -126

Total:

  • 8.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Mariners vs Astros Prediction and Pick

This pitching battle is a rematch of an 11-1 Mariners win back on April 15th. Marco Gonzales shut the Mariners down in his best performance of the year, but after injuring his wrist in his last start I'm a bit worried about his effectiveness today.

I'm certainly worried about Astros' starter Jake Odorizzi in this one. He got shelled for eight hits, four runs and three walks in 4.1 innings in that April 15th loss. Odorizzi ranks in the 27th percentile in walk rate, which is bad news against a Mariners lineup that averages the most walks per game in the MLB.

Both offenses have struggled of late, with the Astros only eclipsing four runs once in their last five games and the Mariners scoring two or fewer in three of their previous five, but I'm bullish on these lineups today.

Odorizzi has given me no reason to believe he can limit the damage, and Gonzales has been mediocre overall and has that lingering wrist issue.

The wind is blowing out to center field at 15 MPH today which should help the ball carry. I'll be backing Seattle to stay hot, as I believe Gonzales can pitch well enough to keep them in the game and have no faith in Odorizzi, but I also like the over. Seattle ranks sixth in OPS on the year and with their ability to draw walks, they're in a great spot to score plenty of runs.

Pick: Mariners (+116) and Over 8.5 (-110)
